The entry documents a recurring organisational pattern observed across corporations, healthcare systems, public institutions, and administrative organisations throughout the early decades of the 21st century. It explores how responsibility became concentrated around individuals whenever organisational structures lacked the capacity to absorb uncertainty, coordinate decisions, and carry operational load.

Ausgehend von einer Rauminstallation Federico Herreros in der Kunsthalle Düsseldorf entwickelt dieser Beitrag einen neuen Zugang zur Kunstbetrachtung. Nicht das Kunstwerk selbst steht im Mittelpunkt, sondern der Erkenntnisprozess, der sich während seiner Betrachtung vollzieht. Kunst wird damit zum Ausgangspunkt einer allgemeineren Fragestellung: Wie entsteht menschliches Verstehen, wenn bestehende Strukturen nicht länger ausreichen? Der Beitrag bildet den konzeptionellen Auftakt der Essayreihe Structural Reconstruction und des Forschungsprogramms zur Wissenschaft der strukturellen Rekonstruktion von Erkenntnis.

Inspired by a room installation by Federico Herrero at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (06 / 07 – 2026), this essay proposes a different way of writing about art. Rather than interpreting the artwork itself, it reconstructs the cognitive process through which structural understanding gradually emerges. The artwork becomes the catalyst for investigating a broader question: how human beings reconstruct understanding whenever existing structures no longer suffice. This essay introduces the conceptual foundation of the Structural Reconstruction series and the broader research programme on the Science of the Structural Reconstruction of Knowledge.
