Clear, meaningful and sometimes unsparing: the triple bottom line of practice management

Data, facts and instruments on the German health system

What it’s all about

The Practice Management Business Comparison© analyses the entire management of a medical practice in a 360-degree view and prepares it, among other things, in the form of key performance indicators (KPIs).

The triple balance sheet in application

On this basis, insights can also be derived from the combination of these performance data, e.g. in the form of the triple balance sheet. It brings together the three central areas of activity of a practice management in which it is active: as a

  • as a doctor (patient satisfaction), as an employer
  • employer (staff satisfaction) and as
    entrepreneur (economic result).

The information results from the values determined in the patient and staff survey as well as from the information on satisfaction with the economic result in the analysis area „financial management“ of the doctor’s questionnaire(s).

An example from practice

The illustration shows the result from a GP practice whose financial success is still expandable. However, the implementation of this goal stands on an unsound basis, since the quality of care, determined by the ratio of satisfaction and demands, is only low and thus patient retention as well as patient acquisition do not function properly. Staff satisfaction, which is also too low, indicates parallel efficiency and productivity rates that are too low.

From the other data of the company comparison, this generalised observation from a bird’s eye view can be broken down into concrete measures for change, which are listed in an action plan associated with the practice expertise.
